President Obama’s “Latte Salute” Ruffles Feathers — Disrespectful or Just a Really Damn Good Latte?

When you are the President of the United States, you have a lot on your plate.  You are being constantly whisked around the world on jets and helicopters.  There’s summits, meetings with foreign leaders, rounds and rounds of golf, and, of course, that pesky war-but-not-really-a-war going on in Syria.  The Commander-in-Chief is a busy man, and it is perfectly understandable that he might catch a latte on the run.  And it’s also perfectly understandable to salute the Marines guarding your exit ramp with your latte, because, hey, you are in a hurry and you don’t have time to do this kind of thing correctly.

The “Latte Salute” is making the rounds on the internet, and as you might imagine, it depends on the political affiliation of the person you are asking whether or not it is offensive.  It is well-documented that President Obama has never been in the military, although he did wander his way into being the leader of it.  It might be a good idea to do those guys a solid and take that extra second to give a proper salute, even if there’s no real rule that says you have to do so.

What do you think?  Disrespectful?  Or just a really good latte?
