Bluefin Tuna Caught Near California Coast Radioactive: Element Cesium in High Quantities Ties It to Fukushima Nuclear Disaster

These majestic fish caught off the coast of California have scientists a little worried.  The fish have made the 6,000 mile journey from the waters around Japan to the United States’ west coast and they brought along radioactive cesium with them.  While scientists are still saying that this is not harmful to humans and the fish are even safe to eat, they seem a little puzzled as to why the fish are still showing such high traces of radioactive material this long after they were exposed.  Other fish have not shown the increase.  They have systematically determined that the fish must have been exposed to nuclear materials resulting from the Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster last year after the deadly and devastating tsunami struck Japan.
