Showing some love for a YouTube personality, here. Her presentation below tells the story. Now, the Common Sense Conspiracy take…
Well, “twerking” it turns out, is the act of doing pelvic thrusts with your butt in a manner that, well, has some sexual connotations. It’s a little different from “Tebow-ing” that’s for sure, and apparently a little more offensive to some than planking. The latest Internet sensation, twerking got some 33 students at a San Diego, California high school suspended from class for taking part in a YouTube rap video that featured a whole lot of girls “twerking” for the would-be rap stars.
We’ll let you be the judge on whether you think “twerking” is appropriate for high school students, but we would like to point out that the rap video, if it were not high school students on YouTube, would be considered perfectly acceptable if any major rap artist wanted to film it and show it to the world as their new priceless work of art.
So, are we emulating our heroes here? Are we trying to make that splash?
For the record, 33 suspensions over a would-be rap video on YouTube will be like “street cred” for this rapper-to-be. While this might cause a lot of trouble for some, he is the real winner here. This will be pure legend, and he will continue to reap the rewards for years to come… in the meantime, he better pray that a lot of teenage girls’ fathers are the victims of President Obama’s gun control ambitions.
