Racist Homework for Georgia Students

We all remember those dreaded word problems in our early education.  Designed to demonstrate how the mathematical operations being learned are applicable in day-to-day life, word problems force students to process some information and figure out values.  For young students, this usually comes in the form of good ‘ole apples and oranges questions and other such friendly propositions.  Not so in Gwinnett County, Georgia.  Kids here get a little extra education on the side with their word problems.

When Christopher Braxton’s 8-year-old came home from elementary school, he, like plenty of kids his age, showed Daddy what he did at school today and some questions he had to complete before school the next day for homework.  To Braxton’s surprise, the questions did use the typical fruit for fodder, but they also included another element:  slavery.

“”Each tree had 56 oranges. If eight slaves pick them equally, then how much would each slave pick?”

Just a little simple division practice, right?  As a follow-up, one of the slaves in question got a name:

“If Frederick got two beatings per day, how many beatings did he get in one week?”

Now, you might think this is an unusual educational tactic, but don’t worry.  “In this one, the teachers were trying to do a cross-curricular activity,” Gwinnett County school district spokeswoman Sloan Roach said.  That’s right.  Combining mathematics with a little history.

We at Common Sense Conspiracy have a suggestion for a new question on the next round of homework.

“If there is one teacher that sends elementary school kids home with racist math questions on their homework and he gets fired, how many racist teachers are left?”

Unfortunately, the jury is still out on what will be the answer to that one.

  1. I think that society ( in particular certain goveernment officials and the tea party movement and those that whites that diasagree and yet remain silent) at large is parly responsible for the recent outbreak of racism! equally among men has never really been dealt evenly. The deck always has and still remains to be stacked against people of color, black men in particular. We have always had to fight to keep our women from rape, our families from being torn apart, and our children’s future from becoming extinct. When People of Color attempt to purchase a car , house, or boat, we have to deal with all the red lining that goes on in the insurrance market. If two people buy a 2012 Chrylser Town & Country Limited Minivan with the same exact options, why should one pay approx. $150 more a month for the same vehicle when one lives just across the street from the other ie; the border line separating Pontiac from Bloomfield Hills. when the racism in the government stops, then we will see less bullying in our schools, less racism in our communities, and less discrimination on our jobs. we really need to put an end to all this racism and get back to the statement that our congressmen and government elected officials are supposed to live by that all are entitled to ” life, liberty, and the pursuit of happi(y)ness!

    1. @ Prodius. Higher payments are the result of the credit and insurance issuer taking increased risk to finance your purchase because of a past history of not paying debts on time or at all or living in an area that is more prone to vehicle theft and damage, thus a higher charge. This applies to anyone – not just “people of color”. Grow up and stop trying to blame everything on racism. It is simple economics. The man is not keeping you down. There are the same opportunities for you and more so (with equal opportunity quotas that are the epitome of racism – see definition – “a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine”) so in that respect government policy is racist, but in your favor. So take your lazy complaining a*$ to night school paying with minority grants provided by the “racist government” that I don’t qualify for if you are low income like the rest of us, focus and get good grades, get an education, a better job, and move to a better part of town with lower risk, pay your bills on time and see how fast this “racism” goes away. I am so sick of people not taking responsibility for problems of their own creation and rather find someone to blame – white people mostly – rather than better their situation. No one is holding you down – you have more opportunity than others in this country – PUT IN THE WORK AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEM! Racism in the government? The president is African-American. You are confusing elitism with racism here.

  2. Oh Prodius,

Don’t you know racism doesn’t exist in this country. It never has. The Native Americans gave up their land willingly. None of them were killed or slaughtered. African Americans came to this country willingly. We wanted to build this country with our bare hands for free while others sat and watched. Now, in my opinion, it takes a lazy race of dog smelling maggots to sail around the world and get one group of people to build a country on land they stole from someone else. If they were so smart, then they would’ve built it themselves. Since we are talking about not blaming people, then the crackers who are living the life of Riley on land built by the sweat of our ancestors, should give it up along with the riches their ancestors passed down to them that we worked for, for free.

Now, a better history lesson would have been: If Nat Turner slaughtered one white person on Monday, two on Tuesday, 5 on Wednesday, 4 on Thursday and 10 on Friday, how many did he kill in all? Nat Turner….great American Hero!!!
